INTERVIEW

GHETTO STARS: Harvey Noir has a bold motto, “Stand up. Speak out. Stand tall. Be bold.”  How do you incorporate these values into the design of your streetwear collection?

HARVEY NOIR: Our motto is woven into every piece we create. Harvey Noir isn't just about looking good; it's about making a statement.  From our bold graphics to our powerful slogans, each design speaks to the idea of standing up for yourself and for others. The cuts and silhouettes are meant to evoke confidence. When you wear Harvey Noir, you wear strength, pride, and resistance.

GHETTO STARS: Streetwear is often associated with rebellion and self-expression.  What kind of statement do you want people to make when they wear Harvey Noir?

HARVEY NOIR: I want people to feel like they're not just wearing clothes. They're carrying their beliefs. When you wear Harvey Noir, you're saying, "I stand for justice, for equality, and for the truth." You're rejecting the noise of the mainstream, of false influences, and aligning yourself with a movement that's about freedom and authenticity. It's more than fashion; it's a badge of honor for conscious warriors.

GHETTO STARS: The color palette of Harvey Noir—red, black, and green—is striking. How did you decide on these colors, and what do they represent for the brand?

HARVEY NOIR: Red, black, and green are the colors of Pan-Africanism, which represent struggle, resilience, and unity. These are core values of Harvey Noir. Red stands for the blood of those who fought for freedom, black represents the strength and power of the people, and green symbolizes growth and the future. These colors are bold and unapologetic, just like the brand and the people who wear it.

GHETTO STARS: Streetwear is huge in global culture right now. How does Harvey Noir stand out in such a competitive market?

HARVEY NOIR: Harvey Noir stands out because it's not just about trends. We're not here to ride the wave of what's popular in fashion. We're rooted in purpose. Our designs are made for individuals who care about making a difference, not just looking good. We speak to the core of what streetwear should be—raw, real, and reflective of the streets, the culture, and the struggles that come with it. Our brand has a soul, and that's what sets us apart.

GHETTO STARS: There's an element of activism in Harvey Noir, supporting minorities and addressing social issues. How do you balance fashion and social responsibility in your collections?

HARVEY NOIR: It's a natural balance for us because social responsibility is at the heart of Harvey Noir. Every piece we drop is a reflection of the change we want to see. From our production methods to our storytelling, we are constantly thinking about how we can impact our community and the world. Fashion is our platform, but activism is our message. We ensure that while our designs are fresh, they are also purposeful.

GHETTO STARS: The streetwear community thrives on collaboration. Are there any artists or creators you'd love to collaborate with to bring Harvey Noir's message to a wider audience?

HARVEY BLACK: Absolutely. I'd love to work with creators who share our vision for truth and justice, whether they're musicians, visual artists, or filmmakers. Collaborations with activists and grassroots organizations are important to us as well. I'm thinking about people who are as unapologetic in their craft as we are with our designs—creatives who push boundaries and challenge the status quo.

GHETTO STARS: Your designs are rooted in boldness and activism. How do you want Harvey Noir to evolve in the next five years, and what role do you see your customers playing in that journey?

HARVEY NOIR: In the next five years, Harvey Noir will grow into a global movement for change. I see us expanding beyond streetwear and into spaces where we can make a bigger impact: community projects, education, or partnerships that amplify minority voices. Our customers are our family. They are the front line of this movement, and their voices will shape our evolution. Harvey Noir is for the people, and I want the people to lead the charge.

GHETTO STARS:  What inspired you to start a streetwear brand in a space that's often dominated by mainstream, big-name labels?

HARVEY BLACK: I saw a void. There are tons of brands out there, but very few truly speak to the issues that matter to the people wearing them. I started Harvey Noir because I couldn't find a brand that embodied the values of justice, freedom, and equality in a meaningful way. It's not enough to slap a cool logo on a hoodie. Our community deserves better, and Harvey Noir was born to fill that gap.
