Jobs & Unemployment in 2024
Black Americans face a 6.6% unemployment rate—almost twice the national average. Racial bias in hiring still exists, with Black candidates 24% less likely to receive callbacks than their white counterparts.
The wage gap persists: Black workers earn 24% less than white workers in the same roles. Despite being 13.6% of the U.S. population, Black people only make up 8% of management roles.
